Long Answer - What is The Municipal Code Book Index?

With headlines ranging from noise ordinances motivating a police-enforced unplugging of rock icons all the way to local elections and beyond, the content of our library of law books drives far more than the simplistic explanation of the law being an “industry” and that’s that.

For most who do not carry an interest in the law as a scientific art, the law is far more of a learn as you go series of events an individual will be involved with during their lifetime.  No one goes to a class to learn what to do when a police officer writes them a ticket for speeding and the piece of paper passed along from law enforcement to citizen has room for error.

Having access to the books containing sets of instructions permitting such an act to begin with may not be the best iPhone app to use when pulled over, but once someone arrives home, they can certainly perform their own due diligence to discover and perhaps discern for themselves the how’s and why’s of what happened.  This simplistic point of matter is of critical importance when it comes to providing the widest and broadest portal for one and all to momentarily access as it relates to a structure recognized as The Justice System.

Even when there is no technicality present, being aware of the law someone is involved with can significantly influence the consumer while providing strength in relationship between lawyers and clients.  Although there are those that would argue this awareness level only poses more problems than it solves, perhaps momentary tolerance of even the most seemingly frivolous cases holds measurable merit for the “one and all” of it…

It remains perpetually critical to supply constant evidence to the public towards support of the philosophy that we are factually a nation of laws and that our structure truly reflects only the best of the best ideals mankind can maintain amongst ourselves as the heart of Civility.  Although civility seems driven by intellect, it is but the heart that can coax mankind's spectrum of options when interacting with our environments at any given moment.

If knowledge is power, then time cannot continue to be converted into a symbolic enemy of the public wanting to not only acquire such knowledge, but the option to apply said knowledge to one’s own life.  Since I am but one individual, creating a simple yes/no index seemed to be the most productive formation I could publish my own knowledge and awareness I’ve carried over the years as it relates to accessing a municipal code book.

As a performer, the local municipal code books tell me what the rules are governing noise.  Some places cite it in terms of decibels while others are more elastic in their measurements.

As a renter, I have recourse when a landlord is not upholding a measure of the rental agreement, especially in terms of building code issues, which is found in the municipal code book.

As a resident, I have ability and option to voice my soul opinion about not just existing laws, but anything being proposed.

So although I could build this list even longer, I didn’t call this the Mega Answer to the question of what The Municipal Code Book Index is.

The short of it is The Municipal Code Book Index is a tool providing fairly equal access to a yes or no response to whether or not a set of local codes are available online and a direct-connect when available.
